Monthly Chapter Update : April

Posted about 1 year ago by Noah Degen in Monthly Chapter Updates

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I last put out an update. I have been very busy getting things organized for NTI next month and have little free time. I am working on contacting Rose Woodstock, a clinical nurse educator with Retia Medical. She and her group have a wonderful non-disposable technology that measures hemodynamic data.

Below are some benefits that other critical care nurses are excited about,

  • EASY to setup for every patient with an arterial line.  Start monitoring in less than 1 minute, using a single-cable connection into the Philips, GE, or other Bedside Monitors.
  • Provides Consistent Accuracy: The Multi-Beat Analysis (MBA) Algorithm provides reliable hemodynamic data regardless of arrhythmia, A-fib, low CO states and vasomotor tone changes to help you determine care across multiple patient conditions.
  • Cost Savings - NO disposables: An unlimited number of patients can be monitored without concern for additional per patient costs. The Argos is a portable monitor that plugs into your bedside monitors and can be used during rounds.

I have not personally seen this system used clinically and will be excited to hear more about it. Unfortunately I cannot attend next month in person as I will be at NTI. I will be coordinating with Gabbi and Allison to help ensure things go smoothly and meeting minutes are discussed in my absence.

I have heard this conference is a rejuvenating experience for all those who attend. It is my intention to bring back a piece of what I learn back to all of you. I am going to keep a detailed journal of everything I see, do, and hear while I am there. If there is anything in particular you would like me to investigate while I am there to bring back to our meetings please comment and let me know.

I am looking forward to seeing some of you there next week for our reserved volunteering block at Harvest Hope. I put the details in an event in the last monthly update as well as in an event I created today.

Have a wonderful rest of your lovely April,

Noah Degen
